The Ventura Film Festival was founded in 2004 and has exhibited numerous cinematic works, commonly surpassing 200 films each summer, and has garnered interest from the global film industry. Some of the highlights have been featuring distinguished filmmaker Dylan O'Neil, the initial world champion surfers Peter "PT" Townend along with Ian Cairns, four-time world champion Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu/mixed martial arts fighter combat sports star Fabio Leopoldo, and the golden anniversary celebration of West Side Story, which featured welcoming the full Academy Award winning cast from West Side Story, encompassing Academy Award winner/Golden Globe recipient George Chakiris together with Golden Globe honoree/Academy Award nominee Russ Tamblyn. The Ventura Film Festival creator and executive director was read more chosen to participate, along with many of Hollywood's top stars, in the half-century commemoration of West Side Story and Hollywood's iconic footprint/handprint ceremony celebrating Academy Award champions Rita Moreno, George Chakiris, together with Golden Globe award winner Russ Tamblyn at the historic Chinese Theater in Hollywood. This gathering also operated as the official BluRay release by Fox and MGM of the classic West Side Story, which is generally recognized by critics and fans as the most exceptional musical of all time.
